I visited the park over the 2010 4th of July holiday weekend. The parking lot is small. One needs to get there early to get a good parking spot. There is one outside shower by the restrooms a short walk from the ramp.

Started my first outdoor adventure along the Appalachian Trail as it wound through the Great Smoky Mountain National Park back in 1972. I made an attempt to through hike the Appalachian Trail in 1974. Climbed Fourteeners in Colorado and hiked and climbed the mountains of Alaska, California, South and North Carolina and Germany. Fished lakes, rivers and oceans from California to Florida. I love the great outdoors and am passionate about preserving the American outdoors for generations to come.
